About
I’m Nikol Salpisti, and I build every website here myself
Electrical and computer engineer, based in Athens, working with service businesses across Europe and North America. Three projects at a time, everything in writing, fixed prices published on the site.
Who runs NS Web Studio
NS Web Studio is run by Nikol Salpisti, whose background is in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. She designs, writes and builds every website the studio delivers, working with a brand designer who holds a fine arts degree and a master’s in graphic design on all logo and identity work. The studio is based in Athens, Greece, serves clients across the European Union, the United Kingdom and North America, and works entirely asynchronously in written English. It takes on a maximum of three projects at a time and publishes all its prices openly.

The engineering part isn’t decoration
My background is in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. It’s an unusual route into web design, and it’s the reason I work the way I do rather than a line I put on the site to look impressive.
What that degree actually teaches you is a habit: measure, change one thing, measure again. You don’t get to say a circuit feels better. You test it. That habit is why every site I hand over has been benchmarked for load speed, checked against accessibility standards with a keyboard rather than just a plugin, and structured so the parts can be changed independently. It’s also why I’m comfortable telling a client that the thing they asked for won’t work — I’d rather have that conversation than deliver something I know is wrong.
Why I ended up doing this instead
My path wasn’t a straight line. Alongside my engineering background, I became a self-taught web designer, learning how to build fast, robust architecture from the ground up. I didn’t just study theory in a vacuum — I started building and actively managing real-world digital platforms for operating businesses, from tax and accounting firms to private therapy practices.
That hands-on experience taught me a crucial lesson: a beautifully designed website is practically useless if it doesn’t bring in clients. While my engineering background gave me the rigorous logic to write clean, optimized code, managing actual business operations showed me exactly how to structure pages that validate a user’s problem and convert them into a paying customer. I built NS Web Studio because I wanted to combine both—delivering technically flawless websites that act as genuine growth tools for service businesses.
How the studio actually works
NS Web Studio is small deliberately. The person who answers your message is the person writing your code. Nothing is handed to a junior, because there isn’t one, and nothing is outsourced to an agency you never hear about. Three projects at a time, no more, which is the only real reason the timelines on this site hold.
Everything runs in writing. Not because I’m avoiding you — because a written record beats a remembered conversation every time. Decisions, prices and deadlines all end up somewhere you can check them, rather than in two people’s slightly different memories of a Tuesday. It also means the time difference between Athens and wherever you are stops being your problem.
Logos aren’t done by a web developer with a vector tool open
All logo and brand identity work at NS Web Studio is designed by a collaborator who holds a fine arts degree and a master’s in graphic design. Web design and brand design are different disciplines that happen to share software. A wordmark that has to survive a van, a business card and a 32-pixel favicon needs someone who trained in exactly that. I handle how the brand lives on the website; she handles what it is.
What I don’t do
Knowing this before you enquire saves us both an email.
- Social media management
- Paid ads and Google Ads campaigns
- Rescuing a site somebody else is still actively working on
- SEO for a site I didn’t build and can’t restructure
- Link buying, in any form, for any reason
That last one matters more than it looks. Bought links are against Google’s spam policies, and when the penalty arrives it lands on your domain, not on whoever sold them. Anyone offering them as a package line is selling you a risk.

How I decide things
Four rules I don’t bend
The price is on the website
Every package and every add-on has a published number. You shouldn’t have to give someone your phone number to find out whether you can afford them, and the studios that hide prices are usually hiding a range, not a rate.
You own everything at the end
Domain, hosting account, design files, code, content. No licence tied to me, no platform fee, nothing that stops working if we never speak again. Handover is complete or it isn’t handover.
I’ll tell you when you don’t need something
If your site scores well already, don’t buy the speed fix. If you have someone technical in-house, don’t buy the care plan. Selling you something you won’t use costs me a referral I’d rather have.
No guarantees about Google
Nobody outside Google controls Google’s rankings. I can guarantee the work — documented research, deliberate structure, measurable technical quality. Anyone guaranteeing a position is telling you something they can’t know.
Timelines start when content arrives
Not when you pay. Almost every late project in this industry is late because the client’s text and photos came in stages, so I make that explicit before anyone commits to a date.
Three projects, maximum
The temptation to take a fourth is constant and I’ve said no to it. It’s the entire reason a five-day build is genuinely five days rather than five days of work spread across a month.
Questions
What people want to know before hiring me
Is NS Web Studio one person or a team?
One person for everything to do with the website, plus a brand designer for logo and identity work. I don’t pretend to be bigger than that, because the honest version is more useful to you: you always know who you’re dealing with, nothing gets lost in a handover between departments, and there’s no account manager between you and the person doing the work. The trade-off is capacity, which is why it’s three projects at a time.
Does an engineering background actually matter for web design?
Not for the visual part — a fine arts graduate will out-design an engineer every time, which is exactly why the logos aren’t done by me. Where it matters is everything underneath: performance budgets, why a page is slow rather than that it feels slow, how to structure code so it can be changed later, and the discipline of testing a claim instead of asserting it. Most web design problems are engineering problems wearing a visual costume.
You’re in Greece. Does that work for a client abroad?
It’s how all my international work runs. Greece is in the EU, so you’re contracting with a European business under European contract and data protection law, invoiced in euros, with VAT handled by reverse charge if you’re an EU business. Everything happens in writing through a shared project board, so the time difference never becomes something you have to work around. You get a reply within one business day, every time.
Why don’t you take on more clients?
Because the alternative is either hiring people I’d then have to manage instead of build, or accepting work I’d deliver late. Both change what this studio is. Three at a time means a five-day project takes five days rather than being queued behind two others, and it means I can afford to spend an hour reading a brief before replying to it. The cost is that I sometimes have to say the next slot is in three weeks.
What if we disagree about something during a project?
I’ll say what I think and why, once, with the reasoning. Then it’s your business and your decision, and I’ll build what you’ve decided. The exception is anything that would actively damage you — buying links, hiding required legal information, making a claim you can’t support. I won’t build those at any price, and I’ll tell you that before you pay rather than after.
Now tell me about your business
Ten minutes on the project form and you’ll have a written proposal with a fixed price within one business day. If I’m not the right fit for what you describe, that’s what the proposal will say.
