What the Content Engine is

Content Engine is a content marketing retainer from NS Web Studio, priced at a fixed €890 a month. It includes everything in Care + SEO — maintenance, technical SEO, tracking and reporting — plus two long-form articles a month at 1,500 or more words each, a monthly email newsletter, a quarterly content plan, ongoing internal linking, and refreshes to existing content as it ages. It’s billed monthly with no contract and can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice.

Fit check

Content Engine is right for you if…

This sounds like your situation

  • You know you won’t write it yourself — not “haven’t got round to it yet”, genuinely won’t
  • Your site already has a working technical foundation for the new pages to plug into
  • You have real expertise to draw on, even if you don’t have time to put it into words
  • You think in quarters, not weeks — content compounds slowly and this only makes sense as a sustained thing

Skip it if…

  • You already have someone writing content in-house who knows the business
  • The site’s technical SEO isn’t sorted yet — start with Care + SEO first, this builds on it
  • You want a quick spike in traffic. Content compounds over quarters, not weeks — if you need something faster, this isn’t it

The honest math, since you’ll ask eventually. Two proper articles a month plus the newsletter, internal linking upkeep and content refreshes underneath them run to roughly 14–18 hours of work most months, on top of everything in Care + SEO. That’s not padding — it’s why there are two articles, researched properly, rather than four written quickly.

The full list

Everything in the €890

Everything in Care + SEO, plus the content that gives it something new to rank.

What you get

Everything in Care + SEO

  • Hosting, updates, backups, security, an hour of changes
  • Monthly technical review and on-page optimisation
  • Keyword, competitor and AI-visibility tracking
  • A monthly written report

Content

  • Two long-form articles a month, 1,500+ words each
  • Each one built around its own target search term, researched against what’s currently ranking — not written from a template and hoped for
  • One email newsletter a month, drawing on the same research
  • Quarterly content plan, agreed with you before the quarter starts

Upkeep

  • Internal linking maintained as new articles go up, so older pages benefit too
  • Existing content refreshed as it ages instead of being left to quietly go stale

Not included — so nobody is surprised

  • Video or podcast production. Written content only
  • Posting to social media. I’ll write it; distributing it is yours
  • Paid promotion of what’s published. I don’t manage ad spend for anyone
  • More than two articles. Additional pieces are quoted separately at the SEO copywriting rate
  • Manufactured expertise. I won’t write something under your name claiming experience or data you don’t have

That last one is a real line, not a caveat for the sake of it. If a topic needs a claim I can’t verify with you, I’ll ask before I write it.

What one article actually involves

Not two thousand words from a prompt

This is what “two articles” means in practice, because the number on its own tells you nothing about the work behind it.

1

One target, researched first

Each article gets its own search term, checked against what’s currently ranking for it, before a word is written. The angle comes from that research, not a guess at what might be useful.

1,500+

Long enough to actually answer the question

Short posts that skim a topic rarely outrank pages that cover it properly. Every article is built to be the page someone doesn’t need to leave to get their answer.

Wired into the rest of the site

Schema, internal links to and from relevant pages, and a note explaining why that topic was chosen this month — not a standalone post sitting disconnected from everything else.

How it runs

What a typical month looks like

Everything from Care + SEO

Maintenance and the technical SEO cycle continue exactly as before — this plan adds to it, it doesn’t replace it.

Topics chosen against evidence

Each quarter’s plan is agreed with you upfront, but the specific angle for each article is checked against current search data right before it’s written.

Drafted, then sent for review

You see each article before it publishes, with a short note on why that topic and what it’s meant to do. Changes are welcome — it has to sound like your business.

Linked in, not bolted on

New articles get linked from relevant existing pages, and older pages get linked from new ones. The site gets more connected every month, not just longer.

Optional

Things this plan doesn’t cover, if you want them

Extra articles

€450 each

A third or fourth piece in a busier month, at the same research standard, priced per page rather than folded into the retainer.

Worth it if: a launch or seasonal push needs more than the usual two.

Brand identity

€1,200

If the writing is getting more visible, the visual identity around it sometimes needs to catch up. Designed by our brand designer, who holds a master’s in graphic design.

Worth it if: content is becoming the main way people first encounter the business.

The same research and writing standard, applied to a second language market, with proper hreflang and per-language SEO.

Worth it if: a meaningful share of your traffic already comes from a second language market.

Questions

What people ask about Content Engine

Why only two articles a month? Isn’t more content better?

Not if it’s rushed. Two properly researched, 1,500-word articles a month, each wired into the rest of the site with real internal linking, consistently outperform four thinner ones written to hit a quota. Google’s own guidance on helpful content is explicit that volume without genuine depth doesn’t help rankings. If you need more volume for a specific push, extra articles are available at €450 each rather than diluting the standard of the two included ones.

Who decides what the articles are about?

A quarterly plan is agreed with you upfront, based on what’s realistically winnable for your site plus what you know your customers actually ask. The specific angle for each piece is then checked against current search data right before it’s written, so a topic that looked promising three months ago doesn’t get used if the landscape has shifted.

Do you write in my voice, or does it sound like an AI wrote it?

In your voice, and specifically not generic. Every article is drafted from a real brief about your business, reviewed by you before it publishes, and built around a genuine angle rather than a rewritten summary of what’s already ranking. If a draft doesn’t sound like you, that’s a legitimate note to send back, not an unusual request.

What if I don’t have the technical foundation for this yet?

Then start with Care + SEO, or a Growth or Commerce package if the site itself needs rebuilding. Publishing good content onto a site with poor technical SEO is a bit like advertising a shop that’s hard to find — the content alone won’t fix the underlying problem, and I’d rather say that upfront than sign you up for a plan that can’t perform.

How long before content like this makes a difference?

Individual articles can start appearing in search within weeks, but the compounding effect this plan is built for — a body of interlinked, genuinely useful pages that keeps earning search visibility — takes months to build and is best judged in quarters, not weeks. If you need a fast result for a specific launch, a one-off SEO page is a better fit than a retainer.
